Console Power Supplies (AC Adapters)
The goal here is to recommend a readily available UL-listed power supply which performs well while still being affordable. In conjunction with various pigtail adapters, this supply can be utilized on many different consoles. Please use the following guide to piece together what you need for your particular console. Keep in mind that although this specific power supply supports universal AC mains voltage & frequency, an AC plug adapter is required for use outside of North America and Japan.
IMPORTANT: Pay careful attention to each connection configuration. There exist scenarios where the wrong connection chain can damage the console.
|Console||Connection Chain (see legend below)|
|Super Nintendo SNS-001; Super Nintendo "mini" SNS-101||A ==> B ==> C ==> console|
|Super Famicom SHVC-001, Super Famicom "mini" SHVC-101||A ==> B ==> console|
|Super Nintendo SNSP-001A (PAL)||A ==> E ==> console|
|Genesis (Mega Drive) 1, Master System 1/2, Sega (Mega) CD 1/2||A ==> B ==> console|
|Genesis (Mega Drive) 2, Genesis 3, 32X, Nomad||A ==> D ==> console|
|Turbografx-16, PC Engine||A ==> B ==> console|

YPbPr Component Switchbox Alternatives
A unique feature of our SNES & Genesis YPbPr cables is that they are designed such that if you "split" the YPbPr input of a TV using Y-adapters, you can connect two HD Retrovision cables to the same port without degradation. This effectively acts like an auto-switching function. You cannot have both consoles powered on at the same time or you'll get garbage on the screen. Also, do not mix a mono audio device (e.g. Master System) and stereo audio device on the same split, otherwise you will get crosstalk on the stereo device. For caveats with PlayStation consoles, please see our PlayStation page.
IMPORTANT: This method only works properly with HD Retrovision SNES & Genesis YPbPr cables (including adapters) and not with other standard YPbPr devices. Also not supported is the HD Retrovision PS2/PS3 YPbPr cable.
